5 Secrets for Building More Cohesive Teams

Many factors decide whether a good team wins or loses. But there is one thing that all truly successful teams have in common: they are cohesive. It is a complete game-changer when people perform as a united entity with a shared vision, rather than merely working together as a group of people with diverging or even conflicting agendas. Cohesive teams speak the same language, know how to focus and are driven by a common cause. Such teams are much stronger than the sum of their parts. But how can we make our own teams more cohesive?

We show you how to achieve cohesion using the ‘Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team’ program. You, too, can learn how to benefit from the amazing powers only a truly cohesive team possesses.

Referencing Patrick Lencioni’s book, ‘The Five Dysfunctions of a Team’. The process is simple: team members fill out a 15-20 minute online survey. We ask questions relating to how they perceive their team with respect to five behaviours:

Trust-based Vulnerability

Productive Conflict

Commitment to Decisions

Mutual Accountability

Result-Focussed

In addition to establishing broader organizational culture parameters, the survey also includes an embedded personal preference indicator (DiSC). It establishes variables in the team such as personal working styles and communication preferences. Taken together, these individual indicators can have a big impact on team culture, cohesiveness and overall performance.

This survey is such a powerful analytical tool precisely because it considers both broader cultural features and the sum total of individual preferences. In order to help you progress to the next level, we need to understand both.

I’m a true believer in knowing exactly where you are before you get going!

By ‘looking under the hood’ in this way, we allow teams and team members an opportunity to see exactly how they are functioning as a team; and understand the causes. Equipped with this deeper knowledge, we are in a strong position to co-create a plan for doing even better.
